Renovation of Crater Police Station Initiative – Community Safety Committee in Aden

November 2021 News and Activities Berghof Foundation and the Political Development Forum

The Community Safety Committee in Aden is currently implementing its second initiative at Crater Police station in Aden. The initiative is offering some essential renovation at the station which was partially damaged as a result of the various violent clashes. The station’s entrance as well as the complaints and reporting reception department are being repaired and renovated to facilitate the access of citizens to the police station. In addition, women, men, and juveniles detention rooms are also being repaired to provide humane conditions inside the police station. These needs were identified in the needs assessment carried out earlier this year by the community safety committee, in coordination with the police department and representatives Crater Community.

It is worth noting that the implementation of this initiative comes with a generous support from the European Union and the Kingdom of the Netherlands under the community safety project, which is being implemented in its first phase in five Yemeni cities.
