Field Interviews to Assess Community Safety Needs in Al-Mukalla

The community safety committee (CSC) in Al-Mukalla conducted some individual interviews and focus group discussions with community members as well as representatives from the police. These interviews were part of a needs assessment survey that was designed earlier in the project to collect data on community safety needs. On the other hand, the committee also received intensive training on community safety approaches as well as project management skills. Based on predefined criteria, the committee developed initiatives proposals, which aim to enhancing the local community safety. The project team in coordination with both the CSC and the concerned local authorities is implementing the CSC chosen community safety pilot initiatives.
